What is autism?
It is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects how one communicates, interacts, behaves, and learn, also known as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Limited eye contact, repetitive speech or movements, and body language are early indicators of autism. Children (and adults) with autism can maximize their abilities and overcome any obstacles with the use of behavioral treatments and other kinds of support.

What are the common symptoms of autism (ASD)?
1. Communication and Social Symptoms
- Poor or no eye contact
- Repetition of words or phrases (echolalia)
- Inability to interpret emotions or facial expressions
- Absence of motivation for social contacts or interactions with peers
- Unusual or restricted reactions to affection, such hugging
- Even with excellent language skills, having trouble starting up or maintaining conversations
- The tendency to use unfamiliar sentences or to speak in tone
- Inability to communicate nonverbally through body language or gestures
2. Self-regulation and Emotional symptoms
- Having trouble controlling one’s emotions and having frequent tantrums or breakdowns
- High reactivity to fear or anxiety, particularly in unfamiliar or crowded situations
- Emotional dysregulation that results in anger or aggression
- Limited coping strategies for sensory overload or stress
3. Physical and Motor Symptoms
- Unusual or delayed motor skills (such as clumsiness, toe-walking, or atypical gait)
- Fine motor skills issues (such as difficulties with writing, buttoning, or using utensils)
- Abnormal physical posture or motions, particularly when agitated or under stress
4. Sensory related Symptoms :
- Overreaction or failure to react to stimuli such as taste, touch, light, or sound
- Strong disliking of specific items, foods, or textures
- Unusual visual analysis of objects, such as gazing at them from strange perspectives

5. Learning and Cognitive Symptoms
- Early childhood delayed speech and language development
- Problem-solving or conceptual problems
- Highly competent in certain areas but lacking in others (e.g., proficient in math but struggling with language)
- Tendency to learn better with visual aids than with spoken directions
